SHIREHAMPTON PUBLIC HALL
CENTENARY YEAR 2004
The Hall celebrated its centenary on 29 September 2004. The celebrations began in style in September 2003 with a visit from Prince Eddward, HRH The Earl of Wessex, to mark the centenary of the laying of the foundation stone. The Hall was rededicated by the Vicar, Canon Christine Froude, on the Centenary day. This marked the completion of the restoration of the tower clock (supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund), repainting of the outside of the Hall, and restoration of the balcony seats.
At the end of November 2004, we held an exhibition of the history of the Hall. Judy Helme's book, Shirehampton Public Hall 1904-2004, was launched at the exhibition.
