The Hall itself provides an excellent venue for plays, concerts, exhibitions and large parties. It includes a stage, and its balcony gives audiences a good view of the stage. There is also a meeting room which can accommodate up to 20 people, and a number of other rooms suitable for smaller meetings. The Hall and the other rooms are all available for hire, for both regular meetings and single events.

HRH The Earl of Wessex planted a tree on 24 September 2003 to mark the Centenary of the laying of the Hall’s foundation stone.

HISTORY OF THE HALL

The Public Hall, and attached Carnegie Library, was built by Shirehampton Parish Council, on land donated by Mr Philip Napier Miles. It was completed in 1904, and is now a Grade II listed building. It has since been used for a variety of community activities. In 1988, the Shirehampton Public Hall Community Association was set up. Since that date, the Association, which is run entirely by volunteers, has managed the Hall on a day to day basis, in partnership with the owner, Bristol City Council.
