ANY QUESTIONS?
The Public Hall celebrates its centenary this
year. To mark this we are holding an exhibition of the history of the Hall, on 27/28
November, aided by a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund. Judy Helme is writing a book
that will be available in time for Christmas.
During the research for the exhibition and
book, we discovered that the BBCs Any Questions? programme was broadcast live from
the Hall, nearly 50 years ago. The programme was
transmitted on the day after the 1955 General
Election, with Freddy Grisewood as Travelling Question Master.

We are delighted to announce that the BBC has
accepted an invitation to visit us again, on Friday 17 December. The programme will be
chaired by Jonathan Dimbleby, and broadcast live on Radio 4 after the 8.00 pm news
summary.
The audience will consist of local people. We
will publish details of how to get tickets and submit questions in good time for the
event.
