A CONCERT BY THE CAMEO ORCHESTRA
(Reprinted from SHIRE no 324 January 1999)
On Saturday 28th November, with a visitor to entertain, I was thankful to see a concert advertised in "SHIRE" which was taking place that evening at the Public Hall.
Not having heard of the Cameo Orchestra, we anticipated a rather amateur production, but we were extremely surprised to find a very proficient orchestra of 20 musicians whose programme consisted of music from the Shows ranging from "The Sound of Music" to "Les Miserables".
There was a very friendly atmosphere and we would have gladly sat through the entire performance again. The concert was arranged to collect funds to help with the refurbishment of the Public Hall and a welcome amount of £251 was subscribed by the orchestra for this purpose.
The conductor offered to come along with the orchestra in six months time, if invited, and I believe that the Public Hall Committee would be wise to accept this offer! So watch out in the summer for an advertisement in this paper to say that The Cameo Orchestra will be performing again at the Public Hall and get your tickets for a very enjoyable evening.
